Dagstuhl workshop

This page concerns the workshop organised for MIRA at Dagstuhl by Alan Smeaton on 14-18 April 1997, and 3 offered contributions by me (Steve Draper).

Briefly, the 3 pieces concern:

1. The concept of "push": the need for a framework that includes not just goal directed information retrieval, but the use of entertainment type services where the provider decides what the user wants to know.
2. The importance of third party "brokers" in making information exchange work between low motivation providers and users.
3. The importance in evaluation of unplanned observations of the unexpected: not just experimental measurement of what you predicted would be important issues.
