Research interests

Vanessa is a bench-trained biomedical scientist who is now working as an analyst for clinical and genetic data in Parkinson’s disease. Her PhD project aims to investigate the variation in the L-dopa response in Parkinson’s patients which is also embedded in the diagnostic criteria of the disease. She is part of the Glasgow-led Tracking Parkinson's team, the world's largest long-term follow-up study into the disease. Collaborations with international working groups focus on statistical genetics, such as Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) but also imaging methods, such as SPECT imaging with DaTscan.
