The cognitive neuroscience of human memory: a perspective from neuroimaging

Using event-related measures of brain activity, it is possible to investigate the neural correlates of both the encoding of events into memory and their subsequent retrieval. The talk will describe recent fMRI studies which have contributed to the identification of the cortical regions implicated in the encoding and retrieval of episodic memories. Other studies, employing electrophysiological methods to uncover the temporal dynamics of encoding-and retrieval-related neural activity, will also be described.
