Why immune factors are important in ASD - olfaction, attraction, neurodevelopment and disease
The immune system is based around the MHC (Major Histocompatibility Complex), this is an inherited set of antigens that protect against disease. These are also relevant to pheromonal differences that affect 'mate selection', the development of the CNS, gastrointestinal differences, and the patterns seen show marked differences both in parents of and their offspring with ASD and also in couples who meet through computer dating sites. This presentation will discuss the evidence and the hype surrounding the above and implications for research and practice in ASD.
