Investigating whether visual feedback activity is local or global within the primary visual cortex
Using natural scenes, the Muckli Lab has identified feedback activity within non-stimulated areas of V1, however there has been no research to identify whether this activity is based on the summation of local input or global processing of the entire visual scene. The present study attempts to answer this question by using simple Gabor patches to manipulate the local environment of visual scenes with an occluded quarter-field. This research is expected to be the start of a new avenue of research into the visual processing of contextual information. This will be accompanied by chocolate!
