Understanding Intention from Minimal Displays of Human Activity at Different Viewpoints

Phil McAleer & Frank E. Pollick

According to work carried out by Blythe, Todd & Miller (1999) there are 6 basic categories of intentional motion that are the basis of human interaction and animacy displays. These are, in there simplest form: Fighting, Guarding, Chasing, Following, Courting and Playing. Our current research is aimed at trying to create animacy displays based on these six categories and testing to see if observers can still distinguish one category from another.
Below are the co-ordinates that are used to create the experimental stimuli.
To view the graphs either: (A) click on Graph next to the one that you wish to view, or (B) place cursor over Graph or select a graph from the pulldown menus to view the graphs at the bottom of the page.
To view co-ordinates, click on .xls to view as an Excel sheet, or .txt to view as a Text sheet.
