Research
| The main focus of my research is face recognition.
Although my interest is primarily theoretical, I also work on automatic, computer-based face processing and on issues relating to forensic identification. Look at the Glasgow face recognition group site to read about currently funded projects, and the results of previous work. I have a secondary interest in learning without awareness. Follow the link to see examples of our work in this field. |

Editorial Work
I am currently Editor of Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology (QJEP). For the past 25 years, the journal has been published in two sections (roughly 'A' human and 'B' animal sections). From January 2006, these will merge into a single-issue format. The new journal will be edited jointly by myself, and the current editor of Section B, Simon Killcross. Read the editorial announcement regarding this merger.
Teaching
I teach cognitive psychology and statistics. For Glasgow University students only: got to my teaching resources page.
